Ingredients
Shop- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup ice water
- 3 cups apples, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
For dough: Mix flour and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add water and form into a disk. Refrigerate 30 minutes.
For filling: Cook apples, sugar, cinnamon, butter, and lemon juice until softened, about 10 minutes. Cool completely.
Roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into 5-inch circles.
Place 2 tablespoons filling on one half of each circle. Fold over and crimp edges with a fork.
Heat oil to 350°F. Fry pies 2-3 minutes per side until golden.
Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar while warm.
